Blog #6: A brilliant piece of writing on the topic of your choice.

I am going to write my last journal entry on my overall opinion on the ending of the book. When I first finished the book I had to take a moment to reflect because the ending was not the most common kind. The majority of endings in books are either sad or happy. This one ended on an bittersweet note. Nobody died at the end but at the same time no one lived a happy ever after (from what you could tell). In the end A leaves Rhiannon and flies to an unknown country. Most people would expect the ending to be something like A becoming his/her own person and him/her and Rhiannon live happily ever after. But this ending left you wondering what was going to happen to the both of them. And how their lives were going to pan out. I liked the ending because it was something different from what I normally read. But at the same time, there was some part of me that wanted everything to end up perfectly. All in all, I thought the ending left you wondering what if.... And that is never a bad thing.

Blog #5: Describe a feeling or emotion that you experienced when you were reading this book. What caused this feeling?

I felt frustrated when I was reading this book. I think this feeling was caused because of the way characters acted and reacted with one another. It frustrated me because I felt like they could have done something different to make the situation or interaction better. For example when Rhiannon calls Justin when A is inhabiting the body of a BeyoncĂ© look-a-like to see if he is faithful. They meet and it turns out that Justin is being faithful to Rhiannon. This does not bode well for A and Rhiannon's relationship. It got me wondering why they even called him in the first place. I mean, they had to have had some idea of the effect it could have on their relationship. It frustrated me because I know that that was the intention of the author because without the reader having any emotional reactions in the book it won't sell. Nobody wants to read a book that doesn't cause any emotions, it's uninteresting and boring. I almost like that I feel frustrated because that means that the author achieved their goal in creating an interesting book full of emotion. Suspense, humour, sadness, depression and many other emotions are what make novels great.

Blog #4: Describe a problem faced by the main character. Explain how the main character dealt with the problem. How does this problem relate to you?

A problem that A dealt with was being able to be there for Rhiannon. It is really hard to be there for someone when you are constantly changing bodies. A first dealt with the problem by trying to solve it. But when it could not be resolved he ran away from it, literally. The last chapter of the book is when A tells the reader that he is going to fly far away and never come back. This problem relates to me in many different ways. First of all, when I'm faced with a problem I try to figure out a way to resolve it, just like everyone else. I also tend to run away from my problems and hope they go away, if my solving techniques don't work. Just the other day I had to make a phone call, and because I am shy and not a "people person", that call became a problem. The first thing I did was ignore it. Maybe it'll go away if I just keep reading my book. But then my mom started nagging me every five minutes, so I decided to try. It took me a couple times to actually press the call button but after I did I got the call done and solved the problem. I tend to go about my problems similar to the way A handled his/hers and although it may not be the best way to go about it, it works for me at the moment.

Blog #3: Write your opinion to a character action or reaction. What would you have done instead?

At the end of the book A decides to leave Rhiannon with the last body he/she inhabits and moves somewhere else. He/she tells Rhiannon that since he/she cannot be there for her, she should have someone who can. This must have been very difficult  decision for A and I agree with him for the most part.  It was Rhiannon's reaction that surprised me the most. If it were me I would have had a lot more emotion and wouldn't have let him go that easily. I mean, this is the person you love we're talking about, isn't it? I would have been begging on my knees saying please don't go. And then when she decided to sleep in A/Alexander's bed so that Alexander will wake up with her there. I mean Rhiannon does not know this guy. And it's not like A hasn't been wrong before, this guy could be a complete weirdo.  If I was in her shoes and A left me I would be pretty devastated. I get why A let Rhiannon fall asleep with him/her but I would find it really creepy to wake up next to someone I didn't fall asleep next to. Even if I knew it was coming. All in all, I thought it was a poor reaction on Rhiannon's part and that she should learn how to express her feelings. (Even though she's a fictional character.)

Blog #2: If you had to choose one of the characters to be your friend, who would it be and why?

The character I would choose to be my friend is Alexander Lee. A inhabits Alexander the day before he/she leaves the country. I would have wanted to be friends with Alexander because he seems like a great person. He's the type of person who doesn't care what people think of him and has a great personality. I like that he cares about his parents and makes sure that they know it. I also like that he is super creative and has a original way of showing it. For example; when his parents are leaving on a road trip Alexander gives them a mix tape of songs for the road and wraps it using sticky notes with sayings that his parents used to say to him. The fact that Alexander is so comfortable with himself makes him a person people want to be around and he doesn't seem like the type of person to gossip about a friend or anyone really. Based on what A saw from Alexander's past, there hasn't been any major tragedy but I feel that he is the type of person that would understand and sympathize with someone who had had one or multiple. Alexander is also a hard working student with good grades. Although all I've described of Alexander has made him out to be perfect he has his flaws. This makes him even more relatable as a person. He is the type of person that I would hang out with normally, and I'm pretty sure if we met somewhere and I didn't know who he was, we'd become friends anyways.
